Market leader Facebook was the first social network to surpass one billion registered accounts and currently sits at more than 2.89 billion monthly active users.
The company currently also owns four of the biggest social media platforms, all with over one billion monthly active users each: Facebook (core platform), WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram. In the third quarter of 2021, Facebook reported over 3.58 billion monthly core Family product users.
A lot of things happen in an internet minute – millions of messages, e-mails and texts are sent, scrolled and uploaded, and hundreds of thousands of hours of content are consumed. In a 2021 internet minute, 452 thousand hours of Netflix content were streamed by users worldwide.

Celebrities with the highest average earnings per sponsored Instagram post in 2021.
According to analysis by social media marketing platform Hopper HQ, Ronaldo earns the most of any other Instagram influencer per sponsored post, raking in an average of $1.6 million every time.
As the dataset shows, many celebrities are able to pull in sums north of a million when selling their influence. Actor and ex-WWE wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson can expect to earn $1.5 million for such posts, while singer Ariana Grande is the most expensive woman on the list, joining five others in the top ten.

The dataset lists the top 50 most-followed accounts on Twitter, with each total rounded to the nearest hundred thousand, as well as the profession or activity of each user.
Account totals and monthly changes in ranking were updated on May 12, 2022. The list includes, without ranking them, accounts that were suspended or deleted while they had enough followers to be part of the top 50, such as (with the 7th most followers in all of Twitter) Donald Trump and Ariana Grande.
