The Dutch city of Utrecht has been named as the world’s most bicycle friendly city by the Global Bicycle Cities Index 2022.
The study, conducted by digital insurance company Luko, analyzed 90 cities across the globe, based on indicators grouped under six categories: the weather, bicycle usage, crime & safety, infrastructure, bike sharing opportunities and awareness events such as ‘No Car Day’.
The cost of living index analyzes the average income spent on basic amenities such as food, utilities, transport, education, healthcare, rent, clothing, cost of property, and leisure.
The index determines the expensive and moderate cities to live and invest. Recurrent expenditure such as rent, food, utilities, and transport determines the sustainability of living in a city.

Metro ridership across the world was heavily affected by COVID-19. Of the top 10 busiest metros in 2019, New York lost close to two thirds of passenger volume in 2020. This was the biggest drop excluding Delhi, which was closed for over five months in 20202 . In other cities of the top 10, the drop in ridership was at least 27%, except in Shenzhen (-13%). The particularly high increase of the size of Shenzhen’s network (by one third) that year may partially explain the relatively small drop.
Annual ridership went down globally by 40% between 2019 and 2020. The region most impacted was North America (-63%). The decrease was somewhere between 45% and 50% in Europe, Latin America and MENA3 . The least affected regions were Asia-Pacific (-32%) and Eurasia (-39%).

The UK and the U.S. are leading the way when it comes to procuring real champagne with 21.3 and 20.8. million 750 milliliter bottles, also called bouteille, imported in 2020, respectively.
As the data by the trade association Comité Champagne shows, most of the biggest import nations are located in Europe. With the exception of Japan at third place and Australia on rank six, Western European countries like Germany, Belgium and Italy are dominating last year's top 10. This is not to say that other countries don't enjoy sparkling wine, but the numbers only refer to the higher-priced, regionally produced drink from the French region of Champagne. The area was officially designated in 1927 and is home to winemakers like Veuve Clicquot, Moët & Chandon and Krug.
While French champagne only makes up around nine percent of the global sparkling wine consumption, it's responsible for 33 percent of the market value, generated with only 0.5 percent of the world's total vineyard area. Overall, champagne exports from France amounted to $4.8 billion in 2020, with the U.S. alone being responsible for roughly $568 million.
